How to apply shaved ice There are two basic ways to apply shaved ice, depending on the size of the area you want to cover. To add small accents Magic Scraps’ scrappy glue works best. For a thin glue application, use a fine or extra fine tipped microbrush to spread glue over the area you wish to cover. Then sprinkle with shaved ice and tap the paper from underneath to ensure all surfaces of the glue are covered. You can save excess shaved by using the funnels on the corners of a bead & glitter tray. Try lettering, the glue has a fine tip, which makes it very easy to write with. Shaved ice can also be used with glue to add accents like salt on the rim of a margarita glass, snow capped mountaintops, etc. For covering a large area with shaved ice, use Magic Scraps’ scrappy tape. The key to getting shaved ice set into the scrappy tape is to rub it in hard. Rubbing it in vigorously allows all the smaller flakes settle into the gaps, effectively sealing off the tape. You can cover plain cardstock with scrappy tape and rub in shaved ice to create a background. Cover a sheet with shaved ice and die cut or punch letters or large shapes – the results are breathtaking!
